The term “proprietary blend” appears on thousands of supplement labels, including Breathizen’s. Here is what it means for your money.
FDA labeling rules require supplement makers to list ingredients in descending weight order and disclose the total blend weight. They do not require disclosure of individual ingredient amounts. At 154 mg total, Breathizen’s five ingredients share a small pool.
Divide 154 mg evenly across five ingredients and you get roughly 31 mg each. Even if the distribution is uneven, the ceiling prevents any single ingredient from approaching independently studied doses: ginger research starts at 250 mg, bromelain at 500 mg, cordyceps at gram-level.
The stated reason is competitive protection. The practical effect is that consumers cannot evaluate whether any ingredient is present in a meaningful amount. This is the industry’s most persistent transparency gap.
We do not believe this makes Breathizen a bad product. Many users report positive experiences at sub-clinical doses. But we do believe this is the most important piece of information to understand before committing your money.
